So yesterday I came back from London to Mexico! Finally I had been waiting for this moment for a loooong time, I just needed a break and to see my family.
To start my trip I went to Heathrow airport Terminal 5 which is one of the biggest terminal in the entire world and is like being in a huge shopping mall. Is almost impossible to leave without doing any shopping. Me, the organized freak that I am had eveything already planned. After security and checking in with enough time I decided to go and buy the food I was going to take on the plane. You must be wondering why is she talking about that? That is the most boring thing ever! Well it isn't I have come to the discovery that the food you choose to take on a plane is very important. Last time I had a capuchino at the airport, took a muffin from Costa with me which I had during the first meal they served but after that because the muffin is not the most smart item you can find I was hungry so I ate a special K, which didn't help that much so I ended up having to eat the food they served which wasn't all that bad, but I don't like plane food. So this time I was smarter, that's why I recommend you plan your snacks beforehand. This time I chose to have a capuchino at the airport which filled me up for quiete a while, bought a berry yogurt from pret(this kept my full for a longer period of time and has more nutrients and less sugar than a muffin) and afterwards I only needed some nuts and almonds I bought in EAT to keep me full (because of the protein and fat they have) until I came home to home-made pizzas my nanny made from me. See I planned my day and I made smart choices and when I came home I wasn't in a bad mood because I was extremely hungry, I didn't over eat in 11 hours of flying and I was able to eat as much pizza as I wanted (I think I over did it, but it was totally worth it).
Now back to the terminal, which is extremly dangerous for your bank account. They have an entire floor of duty free with MAC, JOE MALONE, Harrods, Ted Baker, also they have Prada, Gucci, Jurt Geiger, Mulberry, Reiss... I mean how can you not at least spend 2 hours doing window shopping?
I have to admit I'm guilty and I ended up buying something which I now have to pay by the end of this break, totally worth it tough.
As for British Airways...I have to say is good that is a direct flight on a Friday because you get here at 6 in the afternoon which is pretty decent, but the flight is not so amazing. The staff is really nice, but the food is pretty bad, they barely give you things to drink in 11 hours you are sitting there, and the movies are old and there is not a huge variety. Would I do it again? Yes, because I like not having to stop and have 2 flight and because I was prepared and had my snacks and enough watter and cokes to have a nice time but if you do it just know to be prepared and plan. Specially if you are picky about food and the movies that you like. Now I'm off to have an amazing break and enjoy Mexico as much as I can. Until next post. I leave a picture of the thing I bought, Heathrow is definetly dangerous for my credit card.
